Hertfordshire Constabulary is committed to tackling violence against women and girls and with this in mind, the Abbots Langley Safer Neighbourhood Team have partnered with Abbots Langley Parish Council and Three Rivers District Council, to run a number of personal safety sessions to women in the local area aged 18 and above.
The female safety sessions are completely free of charge, and will offer a crime prevention input along with a confidence building and self-defence session provided by a qualified martial arts instructor.
Sergeant Jon Brown, from the Abbots Langley Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “The first of these sessions took place in April and we got really positive feedback, with participants saying they felt much more confident and that they learnt a lot. The sessions are a mixture of both practical and interactive learning, and last for around an hour and a half.
“We have another five sessions taking place over the next couple of months, with limited availability, with spaces allocated on a first come, first serve basis. If you are interested in attending, please email your contact details (name and telephone number) to SNTAbbotsLangley@herts.police.uk, specifying the date or dates you would be available to attend. You will receive a follow-up email confirming your place on the session along with further information, including the venue.”
The sessions will all take place at a local venue on Tuesday evenings between 7:30pm and 9pm on the following dates:
• 17th May
• 24th May
• 31st May
• 7th June
• 21st June
