SAD NEWS: Film extra from Garston who appeared in more than 800 productions passes away

A Garston based film extra who appeared in over 800 productions sadly passed away recently.

Harry Fielder, of Hunters Lane, was an extra in hundreds of major films from the 60s to 90s, he died on February 6 aged 80.

For over 30 years of his life, Harry, also known as Aitch to his friends, was fortunate to work with many of the leading stars of the time.

Aitch got to work with some of the most respected names in the industry; from Sean Connery and Roger Moore to Alfred Hitchcock and Laurence Oliver, Tony Curtis, and John Wayne. He also  featured in films with Rod Steiger and his great hero, James Cagney.

Aitch appeared in many small television commercials and  popular cult series, like Randall & Hopkirk, The Champions, Steptoe & Son right through to the big grossing blockbuster films like Star Wars, An American Werewolf in London and Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Harry also wrote a book called Extra Extra, Read all about it, in which he talks about his life as a film and TV extra.

He dedicated the book to his late wife, Mary, who he was married to for 47 years. She sadly passed away in 2010.
