An inquest has opened into the death of a lifeguard from Watford, who died after falling from a Virgin Balloon Flight flying from Billinghurst in West Sussex to Dunsfold in Surrey, as reported in WATFORDnews October edition.
Details shared at an inquest in Brighton on Tuesday, September 30, confirmed that the 33-year-old Watford resident, Jesus Lato Garzon, was single and had listed his profession as a lifeguard.
It was also noted that he had recently left his job in room service at The Grove hotel, where he had told co-workers he needed time to reflect on his life.
According to reports, Mr Garzon walked out mid-shift after working at the hotel for five years. Colleagues described him as a private and positive person.
Joanne Andrews, area coroner for West Sussex, Brighton and Hove, said: “I am satisfied this was an unnatural death and will open an inquest.
“I will instruct my coroner’s officers to obtain the police report, a GP summary describing any concerns they have relevant to the death.”
The inquest is expected to resume for a full court hearing on Monday, December 8.
