More than 50 members of a Stanmore running group came together for their end-of-year dinner and awards evening last month.
Held at the KSIMC of London on Sunday, November 20, and with food provided by The Hubb, the evening started with many of the Stanmore Jafferys (SJ) members sharing their own stories, with one saying “the club has truly saved lives”.
Mazaheer Rajwani, who was hailed as an inspiration, was awarded the SJ New Runner of the Year.
The club said: “As a new runner, he pushed himself and took on the challenge to train for his first half marathon.”
Imtiaz Hasham won SJ Runner of the Year, having covered 1,548km over the course of 2022.
Ali Momin won SJ Member of the Year, with members voting unanimously for the co-founder and former head of SJ Running for his contributions to the club.
Finally, Ariff Sidik and Ali Momin won the SJ Outstanding Service Award, with the club saying: “They have served the community of SJ runners with humility, dedication and hard work.”
