RUBBISH ROAD: Northwood residents ‘disappointed and annoyed’ by fly tipping incidents

Published on: 13th April 2024   |   By: Bryn Holmes   |   Category: Uncategorized

Residents have expressed their disgust on social media after several recent incidents of fly tipping around Northwood.

On Friday, March 29, Kevin Sutch and others posted on the Northwood Hills Residents’ Association (NHRA) Facebook group, highlighting a large amount of household rubbish that had been dumped on the footpath between Harlyn Drive and Joel Street.

One resident commented: “I’m part of the Hillingdon Litter Pickers group, and I and others regularly clear this pathway. Disappointed and annoyed that this stuff had been dumped.”

Another added: “Last year, I spent an hour picking up litter from a young girl’s birthday party that had been dumped in the same spot, including waste food, which meant the foxes came and scattered the rubbish all over the path.”

Only two days later, on Easter Sunday, John Inman posted a photo of a separate incident on the NHRA group. The photo showed a large amount of furniture and assorted rubbish dumped on the embankment in Cuckoo Hall by the railway bridge.

A fixed penalty notice of £1,000 is issued to anyone found guilty of fly tipping in the Hillingdon borough. To report fly tipping to Hillingdon Council, visit their dedicated webpage.
