Hillingdon Borough Council (HBC) have opened an online web portal allowing people to apply for street parties to celebrate the upcoming Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.
The UK will be celebrating 70 years since the monarch’s ascension to the throne with a four-day bank holiday weekend from Thursday, June 2 and Sunday, June 5.
The form now available on HBC’s website will allow those wanting to celebrate with a street party on the Sunday to apply for free public liability insurance and road closures so as to prevent vehicles from interrupting the festivities.
Some roads will be unable to be closed, so the council will instead be able to help by suggesting alternative spaces for residents’ parties.
The council also stated they will be revealing further details of their plans to commemorate the jubilee soon, including beacon lighting, a picnic in the park and a beacon trail for families amongst other things.
The closing date for the street party application is March 31. The form can be found here: www.hillingdon.gov.uk/article/8889/Application-For-Permission-to-hold-a-Platinum-Jubilee-Street-Party-on-Sunday-5-June-2022.
