ROMANTIC IDEA: Hemel wedding celebrant officiated couples vow exchange on Zoom

Published on: 7th May 2020   |   By: Amneet Kaur   |   Category: Uncategorized

Kelly Hawes, a wedding celebrant based locally, officiated on Zoom the vow exchange for two couples who had to postpone their wedding due to the pandemic.

Over the weekend of the first week of May, Kelly brought some happiness and romanticism to the lives of two couples who saw their wedding postponed because of COVID-19.

She said: “Both couples were desperately unhappy in missing out on their big day this year, after so much planning and excitement.

“I want couples to celebrate the day that would have been – in any way possible.  Dress up, have a nice meal, watch films, chat with friends – anything they can to be happy and celebrate their love and health right now.

“This is where the thought of making vows to each other struck me as a great way to celebrate love.”

She got to know the couples about a week and a half before the zoom vow exchange. One got in touch with Kelly on Facebook, the other heard about Kelly through their photographer.

Both couples had guests join in on the day, there were 20 and 26 sign ins to the meeting.  Kelly said the emotion in both was amazing, despite the fact they were all sitting in their lounges and kitchens.

Half the proceeds of Kelly’s nominal fee are being donated to The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation, a charity that provides beautiful weddings for those that are terminally ill.
