Three Rivers District Council (TRDC) has objected to plans for up to six new homes at the site of a former nursery.
The site, where the former Waterdell Nurseries was located near the A405 on Chequers Lane, is on the green belt border between TRDC and St Albans City & District Council (SADC).
On Monday, January 17, TRDC submitted a letter to SADC outlining their objection to the plans. This was a consequence of their consultation with Hertfordshire County Council (HCC), who are the Highway Authority.
TRDC’s objection stated that the plans had not demonstrated visibility was good enough at the proposed road access point based on existing highway traffic speed.
It was noted that HCC in their role as the Highways Authority had already made the comments to SADC.
According to planning documents, the developer hopes the site could be developed as a Rural Exception Site on the green belt, providing affordable “starter homes” in the area.
