Garston Ladies Wildcats Under 11s team visited family-run bakers Wenzel’s in Watford last month to learn about traditional baking.
Wenzel’s has sponsored the team since last year, and recently invited the local side for a sneak peek behind the scenes.
The HQ tour, hosted by founder Peter Wenzel, gave the girls an insight into the production line of the retailers’ new range, as well as some of the company’s bestsellers.
The team also spoke to Wenzel’s expert bakers, some of whom have been with the company for more than 30 years.
Aaron McGovern, head coach of Garston Ladies Wildcats U11s, said: “A huge thank you to Wenzel’s for sponsoring the Wildcats in their first season. It was great to meet Peter and Sarah Wenzel and thank them in person. It’s inspiring to see a local business investing in the community and especially in girls’ football.”
Peter said: “We, as a business, are always keen to stay engaged with the local community. Hopefully with educational visits such as these, we can inspire the next generation of bakers!”
