As one of Hemel Hempstead-based charity DENS’ popular Social Enterprise Projects, the DENS’ Bike Project principally seeks to provide a safe space where homeless, vulnerable, and socially excluded adults can learn new skills and build confidence.
Now, thanks to the generosity of locals, DENS has also been able to gift a pair of bikes and helmets to two Ukrainian children, with the hope that they can use them to explore the area with their new friends and host family.
Joss Cox, social enterprise manager at DENS, said: “We are passionate about supporting our community in any way we can, whether that be providing training for our clients who have experienced homelessness, servicing a bike to make it safe or finding someone an affordable bike to get to work or school.
“Going forward, we are happy to offer Ukrainian refugees 50 per cent off any bike at the Bike Project.”
The Bike Project can be found at 1 Rossgate, Gadebridge, Hemel Hempstead HP1 3LG. All bikes sold from the workshop can assist the growth and development of the project.
