Harrow Council recently teamed up with Harrow Litter Pickers to host nine clean-up events across the borough, including in Stanmore.
The Great British Spring Clean is a national event led by Keep Britain Tidy and encourages people to keep local streets and open spaces clean and tidy.
The event included litter picks in Stanmore Marsh and Brockhurst Corner Open Space at the end of March and beginning of April.
Councillor Pritesh Patel, cabinet member for cleaner streets and public safety, said: “This is a great initiative that we are proud to support. We’re passionate about restoring pride back into our streets and open spaces. Litter picking is a great way to meet new people, help the local community and make a real difference to the environment.
“I’d like to thank Harrow Litter Pickers for organising several clean-up events across the borough.”
Casey Dalton, who leads the Harrow Litter Pickers group, said: “The impact of an active and engaged community should not be underestimated. Harrow Litter Pickers are a local group of over 1,200 volunteers who take pride in our surroundings and help to keep our streets and parks clean. It’s a fun and accessible activity suitable for all ages and abilities.”
