A local resident has voiced her concern that the campaign to re-zone Bushey Station could lead to increase parking for residents. In last month’s edition of My Bushey News Hertsmere MP, Oliver Dowden, called for the station to be re-zoned due to inflated ticket prices. Mr Dowden wrote to Transport for London demanding that the station, which is in zone eight, has its tickets prices in line with those at Hatch End Station and Harrow and Wealdstone Station, both of which are £5 cheaper. However, Samantha Murphy, who supports Mr Dowden’s campaign urged caution regarding this scenario. She told My Bushey News: “I am following with interest the campaign to re-zone Bushey Station. It is a campaign many support, including myself. “However, I think the campaign to introduce a controlled parking zone around the station and throughout Bushey Village has to run hand-in-hand. “For so many of us residents, parking, especially non-resident long term parking, is a nightmare and is actually a daily restriction and drain on general family life. With the re-zoning this would increase ten fold not to mention the traffic in general. “Those who live further into Hertfordshire and surrounding areas would happily drive to Bushey and park all day for free for significantly cheaper train travel. “Whilst I appreciate many residents are split on whether a controlled parking zone (CPZ) and associated cost would actually be beneficial, I think you would be hard pushed to find a zone six station without a CPZ within at least a mile radius and this is to ensure the lives of residents are protected. We need to consider the all-round impact for all the residents
