Watford Cassiobury Croquet Club (WCCC) is reflecting on an awesome standout season after securing multiple regional and national titles this autumn.
At the end of September, the club claimed the Murphy Shield, a national Golf Croquet knock-out tournament, with a narrow 4-3 victory over Guildford and Godalming.
Veteran Arthur Reed clinched the deciding match at London’s Roehampton Club, where he famously won a top tournament in 1967.
WCCC also lifted the Anderson Shield and won the regional B-Level Golf Croquet League in tightly contested finals, beating Meldreth 11-7, as well as winning the regional Golf Croquet Open League for the fourth time in the last five years and the Beds & Herts Association Croquet league for the sixth time.
Individual successes included Nick Archer and Lois Hall winning regional club champion titles, while Archer represented England against the USA in July.
With its 90th anniversary in 2026, Watford Croquet Club continues to thrive and is welcoming new members of all levels as the season wraps up.
