RAPE TRIAL: Jury sworn in for trial of Bushey crossbow killer accused of rape

Published on: 3rd March 2025   |   By: Nik Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

A man who admitted to the murder of three women in Bushey is set to stand trial for rape.

Kyle Clifford, 26, of Enfield, North London, previously admitted murdering Carol Hunt, Hannah Hunt and Louise Hunt at their family home in Ashlyn Close, Bushey, on July 9, 2024.

An inquest in July heard that Mrs Hunt died from stab wounds to her chest and abdomen, while her daughters both died from crossbow bolt injuries.

The three women were the wife and daughters of BBC commentator John Hunt.

Clifford also admitted one count of false imprisonment against Louise Hunt, and two counts of possession of offensive weapons – a crossbow and a knife.

Today (Monday, March 3), the BBC revealed that a jury has been sworn for the rape trial. Clifford is accused of the rape of his former partner Louise Hunt, which he has denied.

According to the BBC: “Judge Mr Justice Bennathan told jurors that Mr Clifford had not appeared at Cambridge Crown Court on Monday, and added: ‘You must not assume the defendant is guilty because he is not here.'”

John Hunt was present in court for the trial.

The case against the defendant is due to be opened by prosecutor Alison Morgan KC tomorrow (Tuesday, March 4) at Cambridge Crown Court.
