The Conservative candidate for Hertsmere at this year’s General Election is extremely concerned at the latest issues with flooding the rail network affecting Radlett.

A burst pipe has caused untold misery to commuters over recent weeks after railway lines suffered extensive damage, causing delays to hundreds of trains. Thames Water has apologised for the disruption across the Govia Thameslink services which affects Radlett and Elstree & Borehamwood. Oliver Dowden, who is standing for Hertsmere in May’s election, told My News that is has been complete chaos on the railways. He said: “It has been a complete nightmare. Trains have been severely disrupted and it is absolutely appalling for commuters. “I have met with the Transport Secretary, Patrick McLaughlin, about the issue and I feel that Govia need to deliver some sort of refund to people who have been affected. “There has been nothing said about this at all and this issue is really disrupting people’s everyday lives. Things like childcare have to be arranged and then rearranged and this is a real problem for families. “People are beginning to lose faith in Govia. Last year they complained that there weren’t enough drivers and now we have this. It isn’t good enough.”
