A local triathlon club from Hemel have run the Abbots Langley Tough Ten route as part of their training.
The Kiwi Tri Club from Hemel Hempstead held a mini Tough Ten event on Sunday, September 6, all socially distanced and organised by Mark Dunford.
The Tough Ten committee changed roles and helped with a bit of marshalling and presented medals.
Twenty runners set off in groups of five at socially distanced intervals.
The club had marshals posted around the course and there was even a water station with named water bottles halfway round.
Runners included Andrew Charnwood (41.58), Dave Richards (41.58), Tony Barber (42.32), Linda Hembury (44.34), Jos Bartlett (53.17) and others.
All runners completed the course.
The Tough Ten Committee thanked Mark and the runners for a great morning and for lifting them out of their sense of despair due to the cancellation of this year’s race – the first in 37 years.
A spokesman for the committee said: “It has given us a kick start into making next year’s event really special. We needed some positivity in these challenging times.”
The runners from the Kiwi Tri Club hope to support the Abbots Langley Tough Ten on October 3 next year, along with some of their marshals.
