Residents came together to plant trees in Rickmansworth as part of a project originally created to mark the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
More than 700 trees are to be planted in Three Rivers as part the Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) initiative, which has been extended to March 2023 to give people the opportunity to plant more trees.
The massive planting project has been supported by local tree nursery Herts Native Trees, which donated 20 standard trees towards the project.
One community tree planting event took place at Denham Playing Fields on November 30.
Councillor Sarah Nelmes, Leader of Three Rivers District Council, said: “What better way could there be to remember our late Queen than to help us plant the trees for a project that she launched herself to mark her 70 years on the throne?
“Creating new woodlands is something that will make a difference for generations to come.”
With a focus on planting sustainably, the project aims to create a green legacy in honour of the Queen. Find out more at queensgreencanopy.org
