Pinner-based Blythwood Vets are warning residents of the distress caused to dogs during Bonfire Night celebrations, and offering advice on how to keep furry friends calm during the fireworks.
The vets posted on social media: “Fireworks season is just around the corner, but for many dogs, this time of year can be quite distressing.
“To ensure that your canine companion feels safe and secure during this period, it’s essential to prepare them ahead of time.”
Their tips include keeping doors secured to ensure dogs can’t escape, closing curtains and muffling the lights and sounds as much as possible, walking dogs before it gets dark, and avoiding leaving pets alone during this time.
The advice also includes distracting furry friends with love and attention, as well as ensuring pets have microchips in case they manage to escape.
