A Pinner resident is sharing her journey of creating her own organic candle business named after her beloved furry companion.
Georgina Starnowski found that spending time outdoors, meditating, and walking her cocker spaniel Bella Mae helped her through her mental health journey. It was while she was meditating with Bella Mae that Georgina had the idea to take up a new hobby and start creating homemade candles.
Speaking to Pinnernews, she explained: “I’ve always been creative and love designing things. It was a hobby for a year, and it sounds quite easy, but you have to get it perfect. I set up the Instagram a year later and began selling the candles.”
Georgina named her business Bella Mae after her beloved dog, and her creations are all natural, vegan, non-toxic, and not harmful to the environment. Her crafts are now being sold at the Heath Robinson Museum and Angies Chemist in Pinner High Street.
Georgina continued: “I’ve had Bella since she was eight weeks old and she’s been my little shadow ever since. She’s very stubborn and sometimes greedy, but she is absolutely lovely. She’ll sit next to me whilst I make the candles and looks up at me every now and then. She’s a good girl!”
Georgina is inspired to use interesting combinations when making her candles, from lime, basil and mandarin, to Egyptian amber and vanilla, to satsuma and saffron. All of Georgina’s candles are homemade in her kitchen.
