MP for Hertsmere, Oliver Dowden CBE, has been promoted to Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) as part of the Prime Minister’s Cabinet reshuffle.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a host of changes to his Cabinet today (Thursday, February 13), including Mr Dowden MP’s promotion from his role as Minister for the Cabinet Office and Paymaster General.
Mr Dowden’s new position as Secretary of DCMS, which he takes from Nicky Morgan, means he will lead the department which ‘helps to drive growth, enrich lives and promote Britain abroad.’
On the Gov.UK website, the DCMS further explains its role, saying: “We protect and promote our cultural and artistic heritage and help businesses and communities to grow by investing in innovation and highlighting Britain as a fantastic place to visit. We help to give the UK a unique advantage on the global stage, striving for economic success.”
Straight to work on delivering broadband and seizing the huge opportunities the UK has in tech, media and creative industries ????????
