A woman who smuggled cannabis to a prisoner at The Mount jail at Hemel Hempstead was sentenced to 12 months in jail today (Friday, July 7).
But Reina Jorsling, from Cambridge, will be immediately released because of the time she has spent on remand.
Prosecutor Charles Digby told St Albans Crown Court Jorsling, 37, visited an inmate just after lunch on March 12, 2020.
“It was suspected she had passed something. He was detained and he feigned a heart attack. A package of cannabis was found in his underpants. He said the visitor (Jorsling) had forced it on him, “ said Mr Digby.
Jorsling of Hunters Close, Impington, Cambridge was taken to a separate room and became agitated. She made no comment to police questions at Hatfield police station.
She appeared for sentence having pleaded guilty last October to conveying a prohibited item into prison. The court hears she had previous convictions for shoplifting, possessing cannabis, assault on a constable, child neglect and possessing a blade.
Recorder Lorna Skinner KC sentenced her to 12 months.
