Wands to the ready, it’s time the Muggles among us get to know up-and-coming actor Jaxon Knopf, who is playing older Harry Potter in the new Audible series.
While most of us dreamed about getting a Hogwarts letter as a child, for the Bushey actor, this has now become a reality.
At only 16, Jaxon has created a portfolio of projects that already amazes, from performing in Big Fish, Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat, and even playing a motorbike in Ricky Zoom.
Now, he has embarked on his biggest project yet: playing Harry Potter from books four to seven in the new full-cast audio editions in the new Audible series.
After months of auditions, in November 2024, Jaxon was sworn to secrecy after being cast in the recordings of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Speaking to Bushey News, Jaxon said: “I was shocked. It was a massive thing. I was at school when I found out and it was the best feeling ever.”
While recording, Jaxon was in a studio by himself with a reader speaking into his headphones.
He explained: “It was amazing to shout all the spells.”
Though it may have been intimidating to follow in the footsteps of Daniel Radcliffe, who brought the beloved character to life in the original films, Jaxon decided to put his own stamp on the character.
He said: “I have grown up reading the books and feel I know Harry quite well.
“I wanted to make him more snarky, cheeky. While he is not afraid to be angry, I also wanted to show vulnerability.”
So far, Jaxon has had lots of positive feedback from the editors of the audio recording, including the famous scene in the maze in The Goblet of Fire, but has yet to hear the books himself.
Also featured in the audio editions are acting legends such as Hugh Laurie, Keira Knightly, and James McAvoy.
You can access the Audible series at www.shorturl.at/pa6WA with Jaxon’s first instalment set to be released on Tuesday, February 10.
With his wand and his future firmly in hand, Jaxon Knopf is proving he’s a talent to watch far beyond the walls of Hogwarts.
