POSTPONED: Watford’s FA Cup replay called off due to heavy rain

Watford FC have confirmed that their FA Cup 3rd round replay against Tranmere Rovers has been postponed due to heavy rainfall at Prenton Park over the last few days.

Both clubs were in contact with the referee and the FA during the last few days, discussing the options available to them.

A pitch inspection this afternoon led to the referee deciding that the pitch was unplayable, and the tie will now have to be rescheduled.

Watford were 3-0 up at half-time against the League One side thanks to goals from Thomas Dele-Bashiru, Nathaniel Chalobah and Roberto Pereyra but a second half fightback from the visitors forced the game into a replay.

The Hornets’ next game is now on Saturday afternoon when they welcome Spurs to Vicarage Road.

The tie will now be played on Thursday January 23 with a 7.45pm kick-off.
