Popular Radlett fun run to return in May

Published on: 5th February 2018   |   By: Jason Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

The Rotary Club of Radlett is planning to hold its highly popular Fun Run on Bank Holiday Monday, May 7. As in previous years there will be two races so that everyone can participate.

A shorter run of 1.5km for those under the age of 11 will start at 10:00am. A longer run of 5km for those seven years of age and over, including adults, will start at 10.30am. The event will support Rotary charities and also the specially nominated charity, “Hertsmere Mencap”.

Both runs will be held at the Radlett Cricket Club grounds, off Cobden Hill, and will be totally off-road.  The runs will start from the Cricket Club and involve running through the two adjacent cricket club grounds, the Rugby ground, the Rose Field and also Salters Field, making five fields in total – hence the name!

It will be fun and has been designed for everyone – seasoned runners, regular and occasional joggers, and also for novices/walkers.  The cost to enter is £10 for the 5km event and £5 for the shorter run, but we ask for £2 extra for entries on the day.

There will be medals for all finishers, as well as trophies for the winners. For the 5k event, there will also be trophies for the first male/female under 16, the first over 45, the first over 60 and for the winning team of 4.

Prizes will be presented by Rotary Club President Clive Daley together with Councillor Charles Goldstein, the Mayor of Hertsmere and Councillor Neil Payne, the Chairman of Aldenham Parish Council.

After the run, there will be a BBQ for everyone to enjoy. All runners and spectators are welcome to use the pavilion for refreshments.

As last year, the sponsor for the event will be local chartered accountants, Nagler Simmons, without whose support this event could not take place.

Entry forms for the Fun Runs will be available from various places, including the Radlett Parish Office, or can be downloaded from www.naglersimmons.co.uk. Alternatively, email fivefieldsfunrun@btinternet.com (or ring on 01923 854978).
