POLICE SHUTDOWN: Rickmansworth vape shop closed for three months

Published on: 25th February 2025   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

The Yellow Express shop at 163 High Street, Rickmansworth, has received a closure order from St Albans Magistrates’ Court.

On Tuesday, February 18, police attended Yellow Express alongside officers from a HMRC dog unit to serve the initial closure notice before the full order was granted the following day. Hertfordshire County Council’s Trading Standards also attended.

Hertfordshire Constabulary secured the order, which is in force for three months effective immediately. Three Rivers District Council (TRDC) assisted the police in their efforts.

Sergeant Gary Yam, from the Rickmansworth Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We have spent time collaborating with our partners to gather evidence for the closure order, so we are pleased that it has been granted by the court.”

Anyone who breaches the terms of the order, which prevents anyone from entering the property for three months, could face arrest and a fine, imprisonment or both.

It comes after authorities received numerous reports about the premises relating to the suspected sale of illegal products, as well as reported breaches of advertising regulations.

Councillor Stephen Giles-Medhurst, Leader of TRDC, said: “I’m pleased the police have acted on residents’ concerns about the premises and that legal action has now been taken.”

Sergeant Yam said: “Following the enforcement of the order, items including vapes and children’s toys were seized, and the investigation is continuing as led by Trading Standards. As part of police enquiries, we are actively encouraging the public to report their concerns regarding this premises if they haven’t already done so.”

The public are encouraged to report their concerns about the premises to sntrickmansworth@bch.police.uk
