Police are appealing for witnesses and information following the theft of a catalytic converter in Bushey.
The incident occurred in the Costco car park on Hartspring Lane between 11am and 12pm on Friday, March 31.
It is reported that a catalytic converter was taken from a Toyota Prius.
PC Eryka Morris, who is investigating, said: “Our enquiries are continuing and we are appealing for anyone with information to please come forward.
“If you saw anything, or saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time, please get in touch. Additionally, if you have a dashcam fitted and were driving in the area, please check it as you may have recorded some crucial footage that could help our investigation.”
Anyone with information is asked to please email PC Morris at firstname.lastname@example.org quoting crime reference number 41/26453/23.
Drivers are being advised to make sure their cars and vans are secure. To minimise the chance of becoming a victim, follow this advice:
- If your catalytic converter is bolted on, consider having the bolts welded to make removal difficult.
- Fit protective coverings on catalytic converters, such as the Toyota-manufactured CATLOC device (these are designed for a Toyota Prius made between 2004 and 2009), as these can make it much more difficult for thieves.
- Have your catalytic converter etched or forensically marked and put stickers in the windscreen to say this has been done.
