POLICE APPEAL: Officers appeal for information after fatal collision in Stanmore

Published on: 8th August 2022   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

Officers are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in Harrow.

Police were called at 00:15hrs on Sunday, August 7, after a member of the public came across an injured man close to the junction of St Andrews Close and Culver Grove.

Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service.

Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, the 62-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 01:00hrs.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Detective Sergeant Rebecca Collens, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “While there were no reports of a road traffic collision in the area, the injuries sustained in this incident are consistent with a collision having taken place.

“We are keeping an open mind as to whether this man has been struck by a motorist who did not realise, or whether the motorist has knowingly left the scene.

“I would appeal to anyone who walked or drove along this stretch of road late last night, particularly around midnight, to reflect on their journey, to check any dash cam footage and to come forward if they have any information that could help us.

“This man’s family has suffered a terrible loss and we want to do all we can to find out what happened.”

Anyone with information can call 020 8246 9820 or contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
