POLICE APPEAL: Information wanted following burglary in Watford

Officers are appealing for information and witnesses following a burglary in Watford.

At around 11pm on Tuesday, May 24, an offender broke into a property in St James Road after smashing a front door window.

The offender opened a drawer in a downstairs room and then went upstairs, turning on a light in a bedroom where an occupant was asleep. The offender then turned the light off and fled downstairs, grabbing a handbag on the way out.

Detective Constable Julie Vint, who is investigating, said: “This was a frightening ordeal and we are doing everything we can to trace the offender. They are described as a white male and were wearing dark clothing and a ski mask.

“I am appealing for any witnesses who were in the area at the time, or anyone with information, to get in touch. If you live nearby and have a doorbell camera, please check it and get in touch if you spot something that might help our enquiries. Any information you have, no matter how small it might seem, could be vital to our investigation.
