PLUMBING POWER: Berkhamsted football team win first-ever trophy at county competition

A Berkhamsted grassroots football team founded just three years ago have defied the odds to win a county competition.

A trio of local football fanatics, Stuart Hall, Steve Rixon and Nik Sabitini, founded Brewster Plumbing FC in 2021.

Now, three years later, the club are playing in the Berkhamsted Sunday Football League. Last month, they claimed their first-ever piece of silverware, beating Soca FC 5-0 in the Herts Sunday Intermediate Cup final on Sunday, April 7.

They matched the record highest score in the 53-year history of the competition, which sees Sunday League sides from across Hertfordshire battle it out for glory.

Goals from Ianis Ciora, Lewis Collins and Curtis Donaldson secured the landmark win, with Donaldson gaining the match ball for his hattrick.

In the last three years, the club, named after main sponsor Brewster Plumbing and Heating Services, have continued to go from strength to strength. A reserve team was formed in 2022 due to an increase inlocal interest.

The club’s rapid growth has also seen them play their first team games at the Focus Community Arena, the home stadium of Hemel Hempstead FC, though they are still keeping their roots firmly in Berkhamsted.
