Members of the Radlett Society and Green Belt Association (RSGBA) have given their views on a new infrastructure plan.
Having already been implemented across half of Hertfordshire, Radlett is now getting its own Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP).
RSGBA members have provided feedback on the current draft of the LCWIP, stating that the best improvements for Radlett would be to ensure pavements stay in good condition, and for clear cycle routes to be added.
Their notes included the need for footpaths on parts of Watford Road and formalising the route between Radlett Park Road and Radlett station.
They added that Watford Road and Shenley Hill/Road are in need of a cycle lane.
There should also be improvements to the established cycle lane on Harper Road and on Watling Street, which is, according to research, the most dangerous road for cyclists in Hertfordshire.
A spokesperson for RSGBA told RADLETTnews: “It remains to be seen whether investment to bring ideas to reality will be forthcoming, but getting an LCWIP in place has to be a good step forward.”
A spokesperson for Hertfordshire County Council said: “We’re pleased that residents in Radlett have been so engaged with the proposed LCWIP for Hertsmere, and we’d like to thank everyone who took part in the early engagement on the plan.
“We’ve received over 450 responses to the draft LCWIP, and we’ll take on board all the responses as we develop proposals for specific improvements to make walking and cycling easier and safer.”
