PLAY TIME: Croxley playground revamp includes zip wire, table tennis and half-pipe

A playground in Sarratt has been given an upgrade courtesy of Three Rivers District Council’s (TRDC) Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL).

Three Rivers and Sarratt councillors officially reopened King George V Play Area on Thursday, July 11, following works to remove the ageing play equipment and replace it with new facilities.

Last year, TRDC’s Policy and Resources Committee approved Sarratt Parish Council’s (SPC) £184,000 funding request to replace the equipment at the play area, which the parish council owns and manages.

The funds came from the council’s CIL pot – a charge the council implements on new developments.

SPC had put forward £10,000 from its own CIL pot, while £5,000 came from the Sarratt & Chipperfield Community Foundation.

The playground has new rockers, roundabouts, slides, swings, climbing frames and a zip wire, as well as a table tennis table, basketball hoop, football and cricket targets, and a mini half pipe.

The wooden climbing frame, which was donated by a local family in memory of their daughter, has been left in situ.
