Officers from the Abbots Langley Safer Neighbourhood Team will be holding a free Plate Safe event in the New Year.
Drivers will be able to get anti-tamper screws fitted to their number plates to help prevent them from being stolen.
The event will take place outside Abbots Langley Police Station, between 12.30pm and 4.30pm on Saturday, January 19.
Theft of car number plates can be hugely inconvenient and they can subsequently be used by criminals for offences such as bilking (stealing petrol) or evading speed camera fines. It takes just minutes for the screws to be fitted and the service is completely free.
Officers will also be giving out crime prevention advice to help drivers keep their vehicles more secure from opportunist thieves.
