A former Croxley councillor and retired nurse has released a new book, comparing the Great Plague of 1665 to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
Alison Wall has spent years researching and writing the book Plague Houses and Pandemics, which explores beliefs about medieval medicine and the events leading up to the Great Plague in the 17th century, in comparison to how we dealt with the recent pandemic.
Alison spoke to CROXLEYnews and said: “Finding out about the pest and plague cottages has been very challenging; as far as I know, there is no specific book about them.
“It’s a combination of public health and history that interests me, and I thought, this is a little-known part of our public health history, that has not been written about very often.
“I just want the younger generation to understand our heritage and understand the role of these communities.”
Alison’s book can be ordered through all major bookshops, retailing at £12.99 (please quote ISBN number: 9781835630235), and can also be purchased from Amazon at shorturl.at/gQV25
