An Abbots Langley resident has won the Silver Award at this year’s Best Business Women Awards.
Lisa McCallum set up Lisa McCallum Travel Consultancy Ltd eight years ago, so that she could work around a schedule that suited the needs of her two children, Jackson and Jesse, who have autism.
After having her eye on the award for a long time, Lisa said the award’s 10th anniversary felt like the perfect time to apply.
She told Abbots News: “At first, it was a pipe dream, and it felt out of reach. But I know I go way above and beyond for customers.”
Lisa added that winning the Silver Award left her son Jackson stunned.
She explained: “He’s very straight talking; he said to me that they’re national awards and said I had no chance.
“When I was nominated, he was like, ‘really?’
“People call me on the school run, but the boys are used to it; they love the business.”
The winners were selected by a panel of business experts, and candidates were selected based on their business acumen, tenacity and courage.
