A local resident was awarded a gold medal for her exhibited show garden at the BBC Gardeners World Live 2019.

The ultimate day out for keen hands-on gardeners, BBC Gardeners World Live returned on June 13 to 16 with the nations favourites gardening experts including Monty Don, Carol Klein, Alan Titchmarsh and many more.

The garden designed by Hana Leonard of Secrets of the Garden Ltd and built by Armstrong Landscapes Ltd was named ‘Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush’ and won them a gold medal.

Speaking to KingsNews, Hana said: “It was my first ever garden show and I won a gold medal, I couldn’t quite believe it.

“Although I was confident, there is always a little bit of doubt when it comes to your own work, but we smashed it and we are all so delighted.

“The design of our show garden was to evoke the old nursery rhyme but to create a little peaceful garden oasis at the same time.”

Hana and the Armstrong Landscapes Ltd team designed their garden with as minimal waste as possible by using contemporary materials.

Hana commented: “The idea was to show people that you can create a beautiful garden even in small spaces and how creative you can be with the mixture of materials and finishes, without breaking the bank.

“Majority of the plans we had in our garden now have new homes and the other materials spared were left and we will use on other projects.”

Hana of Secrets of the Garden Ltd, is now looking for a school or nursey that would want to bid for the garden and use it in their grounds.
