A Tring-based dog behavioural expert and a local primary school recently joined forces to host a dog show.
On Sunday, July 14, Hanne Grice Pet Training & Behaviour and Goldfield Infants’ and Nursery School hosted their first Goldfest Dog Show to celebrate the wonderful dogs of Tring.
Hanne, along with the support of the parent teacher association and Friends of Goldfield School, put on the event to fundraise for the school. Supported by local businesses and parents’ employers, this year’s event was the first dog show held as part of the wider Goldfest school fair.
Speaking to TRINGnews, Hanne explained that she hadn’t expected such a positive response, with nearly 30 pups entering the show’s four categories.
On the day, the dogs were judged by headteacher Ms Cooper, deputy headteacher Mrs Blake, school business officer Lucy Bancroft, students, and school dog Rolo, who has been trained by Hanne and supports the students.
Kaya the schnauzer spaniel cross won fastest sitter, Bruno the cockapoo won the waggiest tail category, Clyde the red fox Labrador won the best biscuit catcher, and Roxy the Staffordshire bull terrier won the Goldfield’s Got Talent competition. Best in Show was decided by school dog Rolo, who sniffed each contestant before choosing Clyde once more, securing the Labrador his second win of the day.
The winners were given a selection of awards including treats, £40 off at Hanne’s business, certificates, and a free photoshoot from Shutterdog Photography, who also provided on-site photos at the event.
