PASSION PROJECT: Watford Museum gives Brownie a day to remember for history assignment

Published on: 28th March 2022   |   By: Jake Levison   |   Category: Uncategorized

A local Brownie has impressed the staff at Watford Museum with her interest in local history.

Lauren Green, nine, is a member of 9th & 17th Watford Brownies and has recently finished a project to gain her Local History Badge.

Her mum, Vicky, explained: “Lauren visited Watford Museum as part of her research. The staff were very welcoming and even let Lauren and her brother handle the Watford FC trophies!

“They asked to see the finished project – and have featured it on the museum’s Facebook and Instagram.’

“Lauren completed three tasks to earn her badge: She started with a map, and photos, of interesting local landmarks.

“Next, she made a fruit salad inspired by a couple of treasures in the museum – carved grapes from Cassiobury House and pineapples which she discovered were grown there.

“Lastly, she created a two-minute puppet show about local boxer, Anthony Joshua.”

Lauren said: “My favourite fact was that the pond used to be sloped so that animals could go there easily and drink. The best activity I did was when I made fruit salad.”

Brownies badges are designed to encourage them to explore the world they live in, to learn new things and help prepare them for the future.
