Losing a child is an unimaginable pain anyone can go through but Croxley residents, Yvonne, Richard and Maria Campanini are using their heartbreak to make lasting change.
Gina Campanini died aged 30 after going to Watford General Hospital with a chest infection. However, Gina contracted sepsis and passed away just six days later.
The Campanini family are hosting a fundraiser alongside Three Rivers District Council in memory of Gina to raise money for The UK Sepsis Trust.
The quiz will take place from 7.30pm on Friday, November 20 at Croxley Green Community Club.
Councillor Keith Martin, chairman of Three Rivers District Council, has chosen The UK Sepsis Trust as his chosen charity of the year. Partnering with the Campanini family, TRDC hope the event will raise awareness of the life-threatening condition.
Sepsis is life-threatening, it can arise when the body’s response to an infection injures its own tissues and organs, causing the immune system to go into overdrive. To spot sepsis signs in adults look for these signs:
- Slurred speech or confusion
- Extreme shivering or muscle pain
- Passing no urine (in a day)
- Severe breathlessness
- It feels like you’re going to die
- Skin mottled or discoloured
