A Stanmore resident has finally released her children’s novel after coming up with the story 30 years ago.
Antonia de Winter will release her book Orion’s Messenger on December 4, 30 years after she first read the story to her daughter when she was in hospital having her tonsils taken out.
She said: “I never did anything about the book, but it’s always been in the back of my mind.
“This has been like unfinished business which is now finally done and I can give inspiration to anyone else out there who has been sitting on an idea to make it happen, if I can make it happen anyone can.”
The book is a fantasy tale surrounding a golden eagle called Orion and the legacy of the magic orb.
Antonia added that the novel is similar to that of other popular children’s stories.
She said: “If kids enjoyed for The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe they will love this.”
There will also be an audiobook which Antonia recorded with her husband over lockdown.
She said: “We couldn’t go to a recording studio lockdown, so the recording studio sent over all the equipment and we recorded it at home. My husband does the character voices, and I am the narrator.”
The book is available to buy by searching Orion’s Messenger at bookdepository.com
