A Kings Langley resident is over the moon after the release of her new book which has been years in the making.
Tamara Donn recently released her book Frazzled to Fabulous in 5 Minutes a Day, which focuses on the use of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) to manage the stresses of being a mum.
EFT or ‘tapping’ involves tapping different parts of your body and has been used to help treat anxiety, depression and PTSD.
Speaking to KingsNews, Tamara said the possibilities of EFT are endless and was determined to share them through the book.
She said: “I was motivated to write the book a few years ago when I ran a 30-day challenge in a Facebook group.
“The challenge involved mums watching a video of me for five minutes, every single day, each of these used a technique.
“The results after the 30 days to me were mind blowing and I couldn’t not share them.”
After teaching her own daughter EFT techniques, Tamara wanted to stress the benefit of passing on the techniques to children who can then use it in instances such as exam stress bullying, difficulty sleeping, peer pressure and more.
She said: “The technique is really powerful. It’s to do with cortisol levels. When you do the tapping it calms the amygdala which reduces the release of cortisol.
“The book simply explains how you can build the technique into your life and how simple it can be.
“Mental health is such a problem at the moment, this technique is necessary more and more and more.”
The boom has also won The Janey Lee Grace Platinum Award in health, wellbeing & spirituality books category.
