A woman from Bushey is representing Hertfordshire in the final of a renowned national beauty pageant this month.

Marcie Reid from the town has raised more than £2,500 for charity Women’s Aid in the lead up to the final of Miss Intercontinental UK.

Now she has set her sights on walking away from the final with the crown and wants to represent England in the international final in Thailand next year.

Marcie told BusheyNews: “Women’s Aid is a very personal charity to me as they have helped my family directly. I arranged to climb Ben Nevis with people from all corners of the UK and raised over £2,500.”

Marcie explained that she wanted to take part in Miss Intercontinental because their ethos of ‘Dare to Dream’ represents intelligent women who empower and inspire others and the link to the Women’s Aid charity aligned with her own values.

The final is on Saturday, November 20 at The Hilton Hotel in Liverpool and representatives from each county will take part in various rounds and have one to one interviews with the judges.

Marcie added: “I am also in the process of starting my own charity, for children who have been in the situation of experiencing domestic abuse, which is my focus and platform.”

Marcie’s place in the final of Miss Intercontinental UK is sponsored by local business Red Top Electrical.
