A local police officer has received the highest form of constabulary recognition for his response to a stabbing in Tring.

In February 2023, PC Tom Winter raced to Dolphin Square after police received reports that a man had been stabbed.

On arrival at the scene, PC Winter immediately gave first aid to the victim, who was bleeding heavily from his arm.

Along with another officer, PC Winter also gave first aid to another stab wound to prevent further loss of blood.

When the ambulance arrived, the officers continued to assist the paramedic. They also went to hospital with the victim, securing key evidence and providing excellent victim care.

The offenders were later arrested at their home address nearby and were charged and remanded.

PC Winter’s quick and calm actions were recognised as vital in saving the victim’s life. Last month, he received a commendation from Chief Constable Hall, which recognises great courage, bravery and outstanding work.
