Community is an important value for many people in Croxley, and one a business owner wanted to reflect in a kind gesture.
As reported in last month’s CROXLEYnews, there was a break-in at Croxley Supermarket and Farmhouse pizza on Friday, November 8. Two men were arrested on suspicion of burglary and assault of an emergency worker.
The Kitchen subsequently set up a fundraiser to pay for “repairs and a loss to their business”.
A total of £576 was raised for the “friends on the end” by residents who wanted to show their support for the local businesses.
However, when she went to present the cheque last month, organiser Linda shared: “[The owner] said that he wanted to reflect the support of the community and gift his money to a local good cause.”
Turning to locals, Linda asked for help on where to “spread a little happiness”. Residents suggested that the money be donated to Small Acts of Kindness, a charity which helps to reduce loneliness and isolation for older and vulnerable people.
