Residents who have raised concerns about animal welfare fear that their worries are not being taken seriously.
Locals shared their fears with Ricky News over donkeys, chickens and goats allegedly being kept in unsafe and unsuitable conditions at Offa House on Moor Lane.
Reportedly, according to Rickmansworth East councillor Vishal Patel, a full multi-agency investigation is currently underway with Hertfordshire Trading Standards, APHA, Three Rivers District Council, and partner organisations.
Cllr Patel also explained that the donkeys have now been safely relocated to a more suitable home in Essex, and the goats and chickens which remain on the site are in good health.
A spokesperson for Hertfordshire County Council said: “Trading Standards Officers, who have responsibilities around animal welfare, are investigating concerns raised by residents about the welfare of animals being kept at Offa House, near Rickmansworth. Officers are working with government vets to ensure that the animals are being cared for properly and are suitably housed on the site. We are also ensuring that the animals are properly registered.
“This is an ongoing investigation, and we’d like to reassure residents that we are aware of their concerns and are taking them seriously.”
Herts Police confirmed that the matter is being dealt with by Trading Standards.
