A group of friends from Kings Langley are preparing to take on a mammoth challenge to raise awareness of mental health.
Friends – Dave Ballard, Russell Knights, Lee Bishop, David Dunham, Dan Radmore, Bob Best and Antony Adair – will cycle the distance from Coventry to Kings Langley to raise money for mental health charity Mind, after their friend and Dave’s brother, Carl Ballard, sadly took his own life a couple of years ago.
The group, who have named themselves One Pedal Beyond/Team Ska, will take on the challenge between September 15-18.
After visiting the Coventry 2-Tone Museum, which holds a special place for all members of the group for their love of Madness, they will cycle down the canal back to the village.
Antony said the race will be to honour Carl and raise money for Mind.
He said: “We are doing a sponsored cycle ride in the air of Mind from Coventry back to Kings Langley. It’s coinciding with the carnival on September 18 and hopefully going to finish at the carnival.”
The group will also be hosting a fundraising evening on September 18 at the Kings Langley services club.
