Hertsmere Borough Council (HBC) has praised its new community enforcement officers, who are now deployed across Bushey, Radlett and the wider Hertsmere area.

According to statistics provided by HBC, the four-person team has gathered information that has led to the issuing of at least 16 fixed penalty notices for various issues, including fly tipping, littering and duty of care offences.

The officers’ current remit includes focusing on areas in the borough where residents have raised concerns about anti-social behaviour and/or environmental crimes.

Speaking in a video published on HBC’s YouTube page, team members also spoke about what their roles have entailed and how they are helping local residents.

Community enforcement officer Sarah said: “Today already we’ve been out and visited areas that are frequently being fly tipped, speaking with residents. It just depends day-to-day on what comes in as to where we go and deal with the issues that may arise.”

Borough councillor Christian Gray, portfolio holder for communities, neighbourhoods, enforcement, economic development and transformation, added: “The new recruits have been in training since they started in July, as well as getting out and about in the borough.

“They are already making a positive difference to life in Hertsmere.”
