Hemel Hempstead born gymnastic hero Max Whitlock MBE is Olympic champion again after bringing home gold in the pommel horse finals in Toyko.
The 28-year-old performed a spectacular routine on Sunday, August 1 scoring an impressive 15.583 with the win making him the most successful gymnast ever on that apparatus.
This also positions Max as one of the most decorated British Olympians with three gold and three bronze medals under his belt.
Speaking to the BBC after his victory Max said he was “lost for words” and “completely overwhelmed” but very proud of his performance.
Several tributes to Max have been posted across social media heralding his incredible performance.
British Gymnastics tweeted: “Absolutely amazing from Max. He defends the title he won in Rio! WOW!”
Team GB also praised Max as: “The greatest gymnast this country has ever produced.”
The Team GB Gadirova twins were also quick to congratulate Max praising him on Instagram.
