The High Sheriff of Hertfordshire recently joined pupils from Chorleywood Primary School for a visit to Woodoaks Farm in Maple Cross.
High Sheriff Nicholas Buxton was appointed to the role in April, and the theme for his year in office is ‘Nurture through Nature’.
With this in mind, he visited Woodoaks Farm with his wife, Henrietta, in July. The farm has its own mission to restore and protect nature, as well as reconnecting people to food and farming.
During their visit, the Chorleywood pupils had the chance to ask questions to the High Sheriff, including: “How long does it take you to get dressed in the morning?”
Posting on Facebook, Woodoaks said: “Claire and the team did another wonderful job putting together a packed day of discovery and nature connection.
“Julian bought along his observational hive with the queen bee in residence. We spotted insects and bugs, visited the compost club, investigated leaves and fruit and seed heads, and finished the day by building bird boxes! Glorious!”
