NORMAL SERVICE: People in Watford will have their green bins collected from today.

Published on: 20th April 2020   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

A review by Watford Borough Council’s environmental services partner, Veolia, of their staffing pressures as a result of COVID-19 has found safe working practices and the community’s response to staying at home have limited the spread of the virus.

Elected Mayor Peter Taylor said: “We took the decision to suspend the non-essential green bin collections when Veolia was dealing with the initial impact of COVID-19.  This was to ensure both the black bin and blue-lidded recycling bin collections continued as normal through the current emergency.

“ I am really pleased Veolia is able to continue the green bin collection, which I know is very important to those residents who use it, particularly as the household waste recycling centres are currently closed.

“I want to say a big thank you to Veolia staff on behalf of everyone in Watford for their outstanding service and for keeping the bin collections going at this very difficult time.  We really appreciate your hard work and commitment.”

Households should put their green bins out on their usual day from today.  Green bins are for both food and garden waste.

The council and Veolia will continue to review the situation and the utmost will be done to keep the current service running during this difficult time.
