Councillors are fighting plans for a North Bushey waste-handling site to operate permanently.
Residents complain that the All Storage London (ASL) plant, on Bushey Hall Road near the Water Lane tunnel, causes high levels of noise and traffic disruption.
It’s understood that ASL uses the premises for the storage and processing of waste materials.
The firm began operating in February without planning permission, but has now been required to apply for permission following an investigation by Hertsmere enforcement officers.
North Bushey Lib Dem councillor Louise Nicolas said: “This site is blighting the neighbourhood with extremely noisy machinery and huge lorries blocking the road, causing chaos.
“A waste operation is completely inappropriate for a dense residential area, and we implore Hertsmere’s Planning Committee to refuse permission.”
Residents can comment on the application by sending an email to consult.planning@hertsmere.gov.uk quoting reference 23/1507/FUL. The deadline is January 11.
ASL has been contacted for comment.
